Why bankers are preferring to work from home?

hey guys recently saw that some people were willing to drop 30k bonuses to stay working remotely also saw that 6 employees left a french bank in NY because they insisted on employees coming back to the office. So why people love working from home so much i wouldn’t prefer personally any input ?

Because when working at the office there is pressure to look busy at your desk for 10-15 hours a day when the reality is you do not need to be at your desk in a suit for 10-15 hours a day in order to complete your work. With WFH you can at least flip on Sports Center or try to get your girlfriend to touch your penis if you get a free couple of minutes where you're just waiting for feedback.

There is definitely inefficiency of being remote though. Everything becomes a 30 minute Zoom meeting because people can't just talk and there's barely any time during the day to progress on actual work.

I’ve been thinking… this may be a dumb thought since I’m only an incoming IBD SA… but why not use a discord-esque platform for WFH? Little rooms you can drop in to quickly ask your associate a question, ability for casual mini conversations reduced the need for long scheduled zoom calls. Trash idea or maybe some a little bit of potential?

Being in the office from around 9am to 3pm is amazing because I’m in an environment where I can put my head down and work or talk to others if I need help with something.

The problem is when you’re waiting on comments or data requests in the afternoon and you have huge gaps in between work.

The best case scenario would be for analysts to be in the office but allowed to WFH after 4pm.

What you suggested sounds like a solid plan, however how would work be distributed to those that decided to go home to do WFH at say 4PM in comparison to those that decided to stay at the office? It seems like people's main concern is that MDs will always view you as available, so wouldn't it make sense to stay in the office as you're probably going to be losing time working (assuming you aren't asked to do work during a fire drill) which would mean you'd probably have more work when you get home?

I guess, my team is pretty lean and staffing on projects is usually pretty fair regardless of WFH or in the office. My logic is “If I’m always online and available, I should be allowed to leave the office when the seniors leave because I’ll always be available to work and now I can eat dinner at home or do ANYTHING ELSE while I wait for comments”

Wouldn’t work for my team - normally nothing much gets done before 2pm bc of time zone differences between offices. So would have to wake up early and sit it at the desk all morning doing FA and then go home just to grind it out till 2am.

I’m in AM and will be in office 5days a week from 21st onwards however that’s my choice. However my firms flexible and let’s employees do what they want so it’s not that much of a big deal and have friends doing remote 5days a week etc
