Am I terrible at networking?

I go to a semi-target school, so I have a solid alumni presence at most of the banks I'm interested in. I've reached out to around 35 alumni analysts and followed up with each one after 10-15 days, and have only got responses from 3 of them.

I don't know if I'm writing the emails wrong, but they usually go something like this:

Hi ____,

My name is  ____ and I'm a student at ____ studying Finance and Economics. I'm really interested in bank, and would love to learn more about the firm.

Would you be available for a quick chat in the next week or so to discuss what led you to the firm and your experience thus far? I'm available at [dates]. Please let me know if any of those times work, otherwise I'd be happy to adjust to your schedule.

I've attached my resume for your reference and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks for your time.

Best,

_____

If I have something in common (a club or sport etc.) I will include that in the intro. Otherwise, based on what I've researched, I can't find any major red flags with what I'm writing. What can I do to improve my response rate?

There’s not an exact number obviously. Look through WSO and see what your “competition” is doing. I remeber seeing a thread of this kid saying he sent out 850 emails by November.

If you’re networking now I think most people are also struggling
