Why do most analysts answer cold emails for networking

Hey guys, i’m currently an incoming msf student at Georgetown and am recruiting for SA27. I was just wondering why so many analysts respond to my emails compared to any other position. Do they normally lead and take an initiative for the recruiting process? I also heard sometimes analysts rank their networking calls, especially at certain bulge bracket banks, and have a say for who gets interviews is this right?

Well, for a lot of us near the arctic circle, there is no other way to send or receive emails this time of year. Ill tell you, as a former assistant branch manager at the wells fargo anchorage branch, there were many days that I had to answer freezing emails, with my hands typing on my refurbished blackberry at -10°. That must be why everyone there was so depressed and spent all their time eating. Anyways, I left for Chattanooga, where I spend my days hitting 12 below par on the muni, and haven't had to deal with cold emails since.

So how does this answer my question lol? Do analysts do a lot of “recruiting work” during the recruiting season and have the most insight into candidates?
