will interviewing at the office where my alum contact works help me?

hey guys, i know an alum at a MM firm who is not in the nyc office but is in a very good regional office (like chicago etc)...anyway i think i'll be interviewing with this firm due to my contact. assuming that i'm lucky to even be interviewing w this place to begin with, should i push for the regional office? i wouldn't mind working there at all, perhaps a slightg pereference for nyc. could this make a big diff in my chances at getting an offer

ExGSBankeri don't think it makes a huge difference as long as you're tight with them. They'll want to help you get what you want if you are a rockstar.

yea bc that describes my situation so well....where did i say i was really tight with them? and i think i made it obvious that i am the farthest thing from "rockstar" there is

You should definitely reach out to your contact- they can give you great feedback and tell you about their experience. But unless they are in a hiring manager position and could hire you directly, don't follow them to a regional office just because they are your contact. Get their feedback for people to speak with in NYC- they can help you be in touch with the right people since you're interested in interviewing, but your decision about which office to go to should be based entirely on your preferences and perceived opportunities. You will make MANY more contacts in your life, so go with the place you feel is the best fit for you. Best of luck too.

exGSBanker is a douche in general and amb05 works in S&T, which makes her irrelevant....can anybody help me confirm that this will help my chances at an offer while interviewing? remember, my chances are pretty bad to begin with
