WSO Deletes Entire Jefferies Tech Associate Post – Why Protect the Firm Over the Community?

Note from Patrick (CEO):  All threads are live...  We even posted about the story in the weekly wrap up newsletter.  We don't see any threads removed although we've been having massive spam issues over the weekend so it's possible something happened.  I'm investigating now.  [EDIT: apologies, someone from my mod team removed...all republished now, see below.

Has anyone else noticed that the entire thread about the Jefferies tech associate’s death (RIP) was scrubbed from WSO? Not just comments—the whole post vanished.

Dead link: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/...

This wasn’t just gossip. The discussion highlighted serious concerns about workplace culture and accountability. Now, instead of supporting their own community, WSO’s mods are acting like PR for Jefferies.

Ask yourself:

  • Why delete the entire thread if there’s “nothing to hide”?
  • Since when does WSO prioritize bank relationships over its members?
  • Is this about “protecting the community” or protecting Jefferies’ image?

If the post broke rules, explain. If not, this looks like censorship to shield a major banking client. Archive links or screenshots appreciated – let’s keep this conversation alive.

At least one ongoing litigation between a frim and wso/accounts on wso for annonymous posts

Having been close to the family on the other side, for another similar situation it was certainly upsetting to see a bunch of random people who knew nothing about the situation gossip about it or post info that's at best pure conjecture or at worst completely false. It's a constant struggle of wanting to rush to tell the truth so that it stops the rumors vs. not wanting to engage further, made worse by people who know nothing about you or your family accuse you of making stuff up.

Worse are the people who didn't even like him and were never nice to him to begin with twist the facts of the situation to try to fit their own motive or agenda.

I'm glad this is a fun source of gossip for you. I hope you appreciate that for the family behind the person, every one of these posts feels like a knife twisting in their heart.
