audit
I've seen audit guys go to:
FP&A at a corporate (can be higher pay). Lots of CFOs around the world are ex-B4 audit.
Sell side ER (moreso in Europe).
Something else.
And yes people only tend to exit for better comp/WLB/satisfaction (which is not hard when B4 is B4).
Is there such a thing as a boutique accounting firm? I am genuinely asking because, as an accounting undergrad with a CPA whose dad is a partner at a ~40 accountant firm, I have literally never heard of this concept being applied to accounting.
Sure. There are smaller firms. And there are firms that specialize in certain things. But unless I am misunderstanding what you are talking about, and that is entirely possible, that concept doesn't apply to accounting in the same way that it does to banks or consulting firms.
Can you provide examples of the firms you are referring to? Like actual firm names?
Per Google, a boutique is just a small firm that specialises in something. Pretty sure there are small accounting firms that specialise in something, be it an industry or a particular niche.
