Background check with undisclosed DUI at Goldman Sachs

Hi there!I got interviewed for a position at Goldman Sachs during the first week of September.

I had to take a drug test and go through a background check. Last Tuesday, after more or less two months, someone from Goldman Sachs called and told me that she was working on my background check. She asked me why I did not disclose my DUI in California in 2005 and 2006. I had one in December of 2005 and another one in January of 2006.

I told her that I did not know that I had to disclose it, since it was a misdemeanor and not a felony offense. The background checks usually ask someone to disclose it if it is only a felony offense.

I also told her that since the two DUIs happened in a month, my lawyer got a deal from the county to plead guilty to one DUI then the other one will be dropped. It also said in the background check that I was sentenced to 15 days of confinement. I told the lady from Goldman Sachs that I was confined only for 5 days, got a credit of 4 days for good conduct and did 6 days of community service, all of which is a total of 15 days.

She then told me that she will relay the information to the manager and the employment law who are reviewing my case.

Has anyone been in the same situation as mine? What was the outcome in your case?

Thanks!

I just checked my background check application. It does ask you for any felony and misdemeanor offense/s or equivalent. I thought that you don't have to include misdemeanor offense/s.

Does that mean that I am doomed and will not get an offer? Since they told me that I am ok to start as long as I am cleared in my background check.
