Bad Job Fit - Quant Background

Help! I'm a first-year analyst with a ChemE/CS/Math background who was hired for a job in Risk "Analytics." I was told I would be doing "technical" and quantitative work like my previous internships. Unfortunately, a few months into the job I find myself in a pencil-pushing, bureaucratic, monotonous, operations job. I've been honest with my managers about my dissatisfaction and they're open to move me to another team but I'm afraid it will be to a similar role. Has anybody found themselves in this situation, and if so, what did you do? Any help/tips would be great!
