Banking to Hedge Fund/PE/Asset Manager (Accounting/Finance)

I'm looking to transition from a bulge bracket accounting/finance position to a similar function on the buy side, getting more involved in the alternative investment space - be it with a Hedge Fund, FoF, PE or Asset Manager. I have an MBA, I started off in public accounting, a firm just below big 4, but a big player, and have spent the last 7 years between 2 well respected top of the line Investment Banks. Recruiters obviously have been pushing me to take similar roles at other banks and love the line "its hard to go from banking to buy side" but I'm confident I can do it. I'm really hesitant to take a similar role at another bank since I feel like I've reached a bit of a plateau and am looking for new challenges and opportunities for the long haul. Additionally I have reached out to my network as well, but so far nothing has stuck. I feel like I am pretty good interviewing its just a matter of getting in the door.

I would love any advice, tips, feedback, anything from the peanut gallery here

Thanks
