Barclays Equity Research Superday - Advice
Just got the email mid-tuesday. Barclays interview on Friday in NYC. Never had an interview for equity research before, or with such a great company...any advice besides the don't fuck it up and dress nice would be appreciated. Thank you.
I was told this by someone in ER, Prepare a Stock pitch (2 long, 1 short). Know the company and have the full equity valuation model created to give out numbers and assumptions. Be aggressive in your assumptions(to a certain point) and back them up with facts. That should help you a lot. And read the WSO Guides, so helpful!
I interned in ER there this past summer and went through the superday earlier this year.
Have a solid stock pitch because chances are that you will be interviewed by at least 2 MDs and maybe their Equity Product Manager (this means he knows more about every stock in the world than anyone in the world). They really want you to be personable. If you show that you are nervous, might as well walk out then. Go in knowing what research does and why you don't want to do banking. Know about the functions of analysts like corporate access vs content and also the ranking system in ER which is Institutional Investor rankings.
It's really chill but easy to mess up. Don't go in there stuck up like the banking interviews - they will not like that.
Again, I went through this and landed an offer so trust me on this...
