I'm looking for ways to make my resume actually look like I want to work in finance... right now all I have is a degree in Economics and an internship in PWM (I've had other internships/jobs, but not really relative to finance).
My current job gives me some free time, so I've been teaching myself some more advanced techniques. That's something I know will help on the job, but I doubt anyone's going to look at my resume and go, "Holy shit! This kid's good at Excel. Call him in!"
Anyway what are some skills I can build or things I can do that will help me stand out, at least a little? I'm willing to take courses, and what not, but another degree is not feasible right now. I really want to pay off my undergrad debt first.
And I know I'm not getting a job in IB any time soon, but I still would like to be working in some aspect of finance, if that helps at all.
Post your resume and we can give some advice. Maybe some of those other jobs could be spun into sounding finance related.

Learn the finance tools that you're able to list: CapIQ, Bloomberg, Thomson One Analytics, etc.
I would recommend learning some valuable computer programs as one of the posters above mentioned, and you could possibly look for something unpaid that is finance related for a few hours per week. Unfortunately, out of undergrad there isn't a ton you can do to bulk up your resume since you've already got a FT job, which I'm assuming you need considering you mentioned paying off ugrad debt.
Your best bet might be networking, reaching out to contacts, joining networking groups (especially since you just want finance and not specifically IB, for example) and seeing what is out there.
Finally, I agree that you should probably post your resume or at least have it reviewed - if you want, you can send it over to me and I'll try to give you some pointers on making it more finance-focused.
Besides that, you might just want to start volunteering and studying for the GMAT - pay off most of your U Grad loans in a few years and then try for B school. Good luck.
