Best way to break into the industry for an Industrial Engineer? +energy/O&G
Hello folks!
Industrial Engineer here with 1 year of experience in consulting (energy team in Deloitte) and 1.5 in corporate development (Fortune 500 energy company).
I am considering trying to move to a position focused in the energy sector in either Strategy Consulting or Investment Banking.
- For the consulting option, the idea is to apply to MBB energy teams. However, for IB I don´t know what could be the best move for someone with my background (some knowledge on modelling and valuation but less on financial markets & securities).
- I´ve considered Equity Research in any team focused in the energy sector (seems less competitive than other positions). Moreover, I´m not that interested in the prestige/money as I am in work life balance and macro-economics learning. Does that make sense? What other teams/roles covering the energy industry might I be interested in?
Any insight or advice?
Cheers guys
