Big 4 RC to Banking Advice
Hi Everyone,
I am looking for some career trajectory advice. Just graduated from a non-target and interned with DB in market risk last summer and KPMG Risk Consulting (IA) this summer. I’m going to Baruch for MS in Accounting and studying for the CPA. I just passed CFA Level 1. I got the FT IA offer from KPMG but really want dont want to do anything with Risk. Idealy want to do either of the following tracks, IA to ER (although External Audit is prob more ideal for that) or IA to TS to IB. I’m trying to figure out if I can get from IA to either of those paths or if you guys think I’ll be pigeon holed.
Trying to avoid an MBA thats why I’m doing CPA and CFA. Any thoughts or advice is hugely appreciated.
jamesport95, sorry about the lack of response. Maybe one of these topics will help:
Or maybe the following WSO members have something to say: 007JamesBond ApplePieJames katherine.d.mathewson.16
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.

Between the two, I would definitely take the Big 4 route and try to transfer internally. Relatively less competitive for an internal transfer at the Big 4 than a bank.

If I were in your shoes, I'd accept your Big4 offer and recruit hard your senior year. I think that there are a lot of other paths that would make it easier to transition to IB if that's your ultimate goal.
IA is a very narrow skillset.. with your internship experience I'd imagine you'd have no problem getting an Audit offer with a different Big 4.
