BlackRock PAG SuperDay

I have my BlackRock Portfolio Analytics superday on Friday for the SA position, what kind of questions should I be expecting and how can best prepare for it? I know that they are looking for tech-savvy people with a interest in fixed-income, but please share whatever else you know about the interview process.

I made it to the BlackRock Superday (FT).

Brainteaser: 1st Round - Add up the numbers between 1 and 100. I replied, "is that inclusive or exclusive of 1 & 100." He was interested and said "both." I gave him both answers.

Superday - 1) If you could be an animal, what animal would you be and why? Thought this was a retarded question. 2) If you had to explain to a random stranger what duration was, how would you go about it? 3) In 5 sentences or less, explain to your 90 year old grandmother what the internet is?

Behavioral: The typical behavior questions. Tell me about yourself, run me through your resume, why BlackRock.........

Hope this helps!

thanks ihatetaxes, I was given similar questions on my first round. I thought some of them were fun to answer but still don't know what constituted a good/bad answer.

so what animal would you be? i would probably be a penguin. maybe panda. maybe platypus. maybe tyranasorous rex. do dinosaurs count? btw, i would have to try hard not to laugh in an interview at that question.

To slumdogny: 1) Answer to brainteaser (inclusive). http://www.ibankingfaq.com/category/interviewing-brainteasers/ 2) Exclusive, you have 1 less pair of 101 (49 pairs).

To bertcamel: I think they were just looking for quick yet well thought and articulated answers. I paused for ~7 seconds before I even opened my mouth.

To mr1234: This question was so strange, it threw me for a loop. I ended up saying something along the lines of: "I would be a snow leopard because they are quick on their feet and can easily adapt to a dynamic environment. They have to be in order to survive." This was a crock of shit, but it was good enough that we went onto the next question. For the record, I wouldn't be a snow leopard. I just wanted to project a unique answer (no common tiger answer) and back it up so the interviewer would remember me.

Sorry, I don't know what happened. I asked a question about the personality of the interviewers. It must've been deleted by accident. Do you enjoy the interview? I heard that PAG is really very relaxed and nice to their candidates, is this true?

Has anyone heard from their BlackRock PAG super day? I had a third round of interviews (second super day/follow-up sort of thing) this week and I haven't heard yet... I was surprised by the third round, but I guess it must be a good thing. Has anyone gotten an offer? When should I expect to hear back?

Hey sorry I just saw this. No I only had the first round interview and they still haven't gotten back to me yet about superday. How did your interview go? and are you in school by any chance? I think they are staggering my interview because I graduate in May.

crayzlimeHey,

Have you heard back about second rounds? I have a superday tomorrow and would love some help and guidance on interview questions. Thanks

They gave me a few date options (Oct 18, Oct 21, etc). Travel itinerary was already booked within 48 hours of my interview. This was for FMA, not PAG, but its likely the same.

I would get in contact with HR asap. Two weeks is a long time to be left in limbo...

DatGreyPoupon, I am in the same situation that you are in right now. I received an email two weeks ago that invited me to attend superday, but I did not hear anything back. I emailed HR twice, and they still did not respond.

let me know if you hear anything from them.

You will be interviewed by four people ranging from associates to managers. They will ask you a lot about what is happening in the current markets, where all the current interest rates are, and where have they been historically. They also throw about two to three brainteasers at you. Definitely also know about your bond analysis (yields, concavity, and such). The whole thing will last about three hours tops.

Best of luck! You get a response within a week of the final round. The sooner they call, most likely means yo got the offer. Great group to work for though.
