Breaking into IB, AM, or PE in Philly in the future

Hello,
I know these posts are usually from undergrads from NYC/BOS/DC... target schools, but I would like to set myself up for the future, so I would appreciate constructive input.
Currently:
-a sophomore undergrad in finance planning to add accounting and econ into the mix
-non-target school (Drexel) on my first coop at a big 4 accounting firm
-about ~3.8 major GPA
-Keeping up with financial news and investing

I was wondering what kind of opportunities are available for me, so I can start reading up on those industries. I know Philly is not the biggest city, but I like the moderate pace of life, night life, and low cost of living. Are there any major IB, AM, PE, VC, HF's recruiting in Philly, or even smaller boutique firms with good job mobility? I am extremely passionate about finance, and I have kept up with the stock market since 9th grade. I don't mind the work, but I need to know if it is possible for me to live in Philly and reach my future career goals. Thanks for the input in advance.

It's definitely possible. The finance scene isn't as prominent as NYC or SF or even Boston, but there is definitely finance work to be found. IB is more limited, but there is some AM, smaller HF and PE funds in philly. You will have to try a bit harder and will be competing for less spots (as well as agains Nova and Wharton kids). Don't know much about Drexel's co-op program, but if they have any possiblities to work in front-office type roles, that could be a great way to get your foot in the door somewhere and potentially land an offer.

There is a decent amount of finance in Philadelphia, the problem being it is usually for people with some experience. I'd target Janney for banking (HW is you can get a regional placement here). Aberdeen has a rotational program for new grads. All the Big 4 have TAS here I believe. You can do corporate banking also. I'd target PNC as they are a big player in the market. Duff and Phelps for Valuation. Everything else is going to be a toss up. Shoot off some emails and try and talk to MD's at various shops. They hire on a need basis so the process is going to be elongated.
