Can a car dealership sales manager break into finance

My dream job was always to work with the markets in some capacity, research, trader, in the summers during college I sold cars to make enough to not have to work while in school. When I graduated college with my finance degree a dealership offered me the finance/sales manager position and a great salary so I took it. Now I'm 27 and regretting my decision. Is it too late to break in.Some skills I think would translate well is 10 years of sales experience,I have experience leading a team of 10I'm used to working 80+ hour weeks

Before offering advice, change your username so that it isnt your actual name, I found you in one google search. Even if you are asking just one simple question, best to keep it anonymous

In short, it will be an extremely uphill battle but it isnt impossible.

Best way to go about it would be to look for a FP&A manager role, do that for a year or two, then get your MBA. Assuming you network and work hard you should get looks from different S&T / capital markets roles, but you will still need to study the technicals like a madman to make up for lack of experience.

In other words, it can be done, but not without a significant sacrifice.
