(Canada) Fall 2020 Internship - Senior Year: How should I play this?

I am going into my senior year, and due to taking a term off/rescheduling I have a fall-term internship at a regional Boutique in Toronto. Due to the current times, conditions, etc. what options would you recommend? I understand recruiting for full-time will be around August/Sept, so this is why I need to get my timing and plan set.

Some of the options I am considering: 1. Just focus on crushing the internship to hopefully get a return offer (possible, but not certain), lateral after 1/2 years to larger banks 2. Do well on the internship, but also focus on networking full time for larger banks

Any thoughts?

If I read it correctly, you're not working this summer right? In that case, you might actually be at an advantage, at least when it comes to networking. You have more time and less need to be so discrete. FT recruiting is less formal than SA recruiting. A lot of it is relationship based. Make sure you are staying connected to people on the street.

Yes, I have the next 2 months ahead of me (although I am taking courses). Just trying to figure out the best way to approach recruiting and networking and prep at the same time in order to capitalize on the time I have ahead of me.

Hey bro, I’m a incoming freshman at a semi target in Ontario (think u of t, Waterloo) I was wondering if you could give some tips for off cycle recruiting, especially in the fall. appreciate it.

Hey I would say if you are at Waterloo or Laurier (school w/ co-op) you will have no problems at all since you are required to do off cycle internships regardless. If you're at U of T it's going to be harder since you typically only have summer off so you should ask someone else, but it definitely comes down to networking w/ alumni, reaching out to people since nothing will come easily. Keep your grades high and join the investment clubs.
