Canadian Non-trad trying to break into US finance

Hi WSO,

I'm looking to evaluate what my best options are for entering finance in the US. I'm a former college student, and had some experience with personal investing. Another problem is my GPA is around 3.2 I believe. I love studying finance.I also have some self-experience trading as well so I'm open to a lot of different options within finance.

Im just wondering how can I best achieve my goal of landing a high-finance position?
Obviously my concerns are:
-Low gpa
-small non-target school from Canada
-restricted finances

Some pros I feel I have are that:
-started CFA level 1 and cannot be more excited to do this program

One main consideration I'm trying to decide is if I should try to complete a degree through Harvard Extension School? I felt as compared with my small Canadian school, that HES should be a better idea?
And then once I complete the degree, will an MBA open up a lot more doors in positions like a buy-side equity analyst? And if the MBA is top 25 vs top 10 will it still open those doors?

Sorry for the long first post! Excited to be a part of the community!
