Chat am I cooked?

I did final interviews for a MM PE fund a couple of weeks ago.

I felt like I connected on a personal level with all the interviewers; I fucked up a couple of technicals but picked up the mistakes quickly.

Reached out to HR and they told me the team wants to evaluate other candidates before making a decision. They will reach out in a month or so with the final response.

I think they will reject me, it feels like this is a soft way of doing so. Still, I would appreciate an external perspective on the matter. So chat, am I cooked or there is still hope?

You're cooked, no cap. Chat needs to clip this on skib. Maybe you can rizz up a VP to get that Grimace Shake, but it may be Joever for you.

I know you mention the technicals as the only concrete thing that you think you fucked up, but my advice would be not to dwell on it. Unless you colossally made a fool of yourself, I don't think small technical misses (that you caught yourself) are the end all - this was a final round stage where they presumably already determined your modeling skills were sufficient.

From the other side of things, there's a million variables that could've gone into the decision, so best potential chance would be to reach out to someone who you connected with there (after rejection), and see if they'd be willing to give you any off-the-record feedback. Many times no matter how well a final round feels like it went, folks take a step back and evaluate candidates' entire profiles holistically again, and also there's a lot of senior bias that goes into the decision. Good luck next time, I highly doubt it was the technicals that made the difference. I don't understand why you'd even ask those at a final round if you're conducting your process in the right way.

Actually the answer here I think is a little different.

In terms of next best action, you should absolutely continue recruiting for other opptys.

But you are not necessarily cooked on this process. If you were, they would just ghost you or say no. On the other hand, if it was a clear and irrevocable yes, they would extend an offer. What this is is they like you but they like a couple of the other resume’s in the lineup potentially better, and want to do those super days. If they like them better and extend them the offer, then either those people will accept or decline. Or they won’t like them better in person, and they’ll extend you the offer (or maybe no one).

So point is, yes, recruit elsewhere but there are scenarios where you hear back from these guys after a while.

100%. You have to apply some pressure to them. They will keep interviewing until they find the perfect candidate unless you give them a deadline.
