Courses for internships

Hi,

I'm going into my second year as a BCom student at the University of Toronto, majoring in Finance & Economics. I am spending a lot of time recently building my LinkedIn profile, and researching into different jobs that would be ideal for a summer internship in finance.

I've talked to a few people about getting into the finance industry, and they all say that internships are huge. I've also been advised to take financial modelling courses, if I want to increase my odds of landing an internship as a financial analyst.

I'm here to ask for advice in regards to these courses, keeping in mind my goals and what I'm looking for next summer. I see this course (financial-modeling-valuation-analyst-fmva-program) on CFI (Corporate Finance Institute), but it seems very rigorous and time consuming. This one (financial-modeling-certification/excel-training) on WSO, however, seems a lot more doable, considering I have a tough workload this year. If I'm just looking for an internship, would the WSO one be a good option?

How much value do these certifications hold as an intern candidate? Are there other courses that might be better considering my goals, and others that might be worth taking as well?

Thanks so much for your time.
