Delaying start date by a year - IB BB (Advice needed)
Thinking about asking for a year delay to my start time (have a 2025 FT offer for IB at a BB in NY). Has anyone had experience with this and would be willing to share. Thanks!
Have a lot of friends who have done this across Rothschild, Evercore, Centerview, UBS and the only one who got denied of his request was UBS. He asked to defer so he could do a Masters at Oxford and they said no but there was no wrong in asking - he ended up turning down Oxford and went for UBS. As long as you say “I was curious if this would be possible because i want to do xyz - but no problem at all if not” so that it’s well received from HR. Also maybe speak with your team after HR have approved it.
