Dismissed Misdemeanor Charge on Background Check

I have a summer analyst offer at a BB in NYC for this summer and have not yet been asked to complete the criminal background check. I have one misdemeanor charge (speeding >24 mph) which was then amended to a traffic ticket for going 11-14 mph over & dismissed after 6 months of court supervision and traffic school. Should I disclose this to HR prior to the background check or simply answer the question on the background check form if it asks whether I've been charged with a misdemeanor?

I know it's a fingerprint background check & I'm pretty sure it's the FINRA one.

I also have an old ticket from high school for posession of 1.4g of weed (it was while weed was decriminalized in my state and ~3 months before it was legalized) which was dismissed because the cop didn't bother to show up. Not concerned about this one, but I am worried about the two showing up in conjunction.

Right, but what I mean is should I just answer the question on the form or email/call HR ahead of time?

Definitely, but should I just mark it down on the form out or contact HR over email or phone prior to filling it out?

It doesn’t matter - if you’re in NY, possession of small amounts of weed is the same as possession of a box of cigarettes, it was legalized years ago

It wasn't in NY, but I'm not really worried about that per se. Moreso the misdemeanor charge.

Just disclose it- it may not even come up as the questions relate to financial fraud and they usually tell you to leave traffic issues off. Either way/ it doesn’t matter and it’s nothing to worry about. If you get a question that looks like it would potentially fit but beyond that don’t worry it’s nothing- especially since it’s been dismissed. They also ask about “convictions” if this was dropped you don’t have a conviction.

Like the unadjusted- only with a little bit extra.

If they never asked you, you are not obliged to dislose. Obv tell the truth if they find out
