Unfortunately, Wall Street is ruled by prestige with some representation from non-target schools. In your case a grad degree such as a Masters in Finance from a comparable school would be needed. Continue to network and work hard to receive high grades. Them GPA will not be a factor but rather your drive to break in

Success is my only option and failure is not

You worked at an engineering firm as a designer with an econ degree? Can you elaborate?

And if you're just applying/sending in resumes via websites, with your GPA and school you will most certainly be ignored. Therefore, start networking. You're a bit late to the game but show enthusiasm and have a solid story for why you're where you're at, preferably don't tell them that you drank too much...

Like rs12 said, aim for an MSc in finance or an MBA. With no experience in finance, you will definitely need to rebrand yourself.

If you want words of encouragement talk to your girlfriend but what you have written is an auto ding if you submitted your resume. I would really take a hard look into why you want banking or research because your reason of being "obsessed with the financial crisis and why it happened" fits best in the realm of academia and an Econ phd thesis. You basically gave up the chance to be your own boss owning an established engineering firm for the snowball chance of being some bitch analyst in a contracting industry transferring to a non target where you lost a year in credits. Silver lining is at least you have the girl of your dreams with which you can watch sex and the city with.
