Do I have a path to a Big City / Big Firm?

Hey Everyone,

Currently feeling really lost after the entire pandemic situation and need to find a way to escape. I just need to know if I have any path to a big city (London, USA) and a decent firm that wouldn't be a downgrade from my current situation (work and salary wise).

A bit of background info:

  • Located in Asia-Pacific region
  • Graduated first-class honors BCom Finance
  • Joined boutique PE-firm as an analyst upon graduating
  • Just over 1 year of experience, have completed 2 growth equity PE deals and a sell side process along with general PE portfolio management
  • Studied towards CFA level 1 but continually deferred (COVID)

Is it possible for me to move to a new city and firm currently? or are there further steps I need to take to get to either the UK or USA? Is an MBA my only path? Do I even need one?

Any advice our help would be greatly appreciated.
