Do I really need to send thank-you note post interview? (London)

Seems like a weird thing to ask given the consensus here is that you should always send a thank you note 24hr after an interview.

From my perspective, I have seen absolutely 0 benefit from sending a thank you note in my previous processes. I have actually never received an offer after sending a thank-you note post-final round; all of my offers have come having not sent anything after an interview.

The reason I am asking this is because I recently had an IB AC (superday) this week, and I did really well on technicals, but I couldn't sleep the night before and ended up being pretty emotionless/robotic throughout the interview, although my interviewer wasn't the happiest guy in the world either. I am thinking of sending a thank-you note to the interviewer so he at least knows I have enthusiasm for the role (which I do).

In London, what is the consensus of sending thank-you notes? I feel like the culture in the UK is quite repulsed by candidates seeming desperate and, by extension, sending thank you notes.

Thanks!

Not a thing in London. I landed EB without sending a single note to anyone. HR runs the show in London.

Bump

(1) I'm curious about how London bankers perceive thank you notes in general
(2)Does it make sense to add-in a more robust answer to a defective answer you gave to a technical question – within the thank you note

people do some weird things to get an "edge". Signatures on Cover Letters, name dropping strangers, thank you notes...

In reality, I don't think this really moves the needle. I never done any of this autist shit and got offers at multiple BBs. If you want to do it cool, its nice. But stop overthinking it.

Sounds like the clueless thing I'll have done in 2022—not to get an edge, but—just because I didn't know that electronic cover letters didn't need a signature

nahhh drop it theyre super busy anyway and probs already forgot who you are

wont make a difference and could even disturb them / come across as needy

this is not the US
