Do interviewers ask your rating when lateraling?
Let’s say you’re in the process of lateraling from a MF/UMM fund to a MM/LMM fund. Will the MM/LMM fund ask for your ratings / reviews at the MF/UMM fund? And if so, what rating will they expect to see?
Yes, why wouldn't they? Everything short of reference checks with current fund (given the sensitivity). They're likely to ask about your feedback, development areas, etc., perhaps even stack ranking if that's a thing at your shop.
Yes, of course. Anything below mid-bucket will be a red flag for them.
Back channel reference checks are also not uncommon (i.e. if ASO/VP at shop has a friend at your shop) - this would be less common moving from MF to LMM, but PE is still a small world
