No- be confident and sure of yourself. People don't care about your height- only your work product. Women may care, but you can't control your height anyway so why worry?

I agree that confidence can overcome preconceptions, just make sure it's the right sort of confidence.

Shortness, like a few other things, makes it easier for people to consciously or subconsciously attribute some other behaviour to being a product of your shortness. Other things being absolutely equal, if you're an aggressive short guy, people are more likely to see the aggressiveness as over-compensation for lack of height, rather than just simple aggressiveness.

There's a short director who is quite aggressive/confident in a way that involves bullying others. When he's not around, there is always some degree of sniggering among us regular-sized folk that this is because of his height. Not that explicit, but more comments with indirect references (eg "he was quite short with you just now") that lead to smirks, then we move on.

It's not fair, it's not a level playing field, but that's life. In my view, women and some minorities suffer more from this sort of thinking than short men.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.
