Employment verification?

Got a job offer for a bulge bracket bank and have a start date set up for a couple weeks from now. They use Cisive and I've called them a bunch to verify that my employment verification has gone through and they just tell me they have everything they need.

I'm nervous bc I'm coming from a very small company where I literally had the CEO tell me I could "call myself (job title) whatever I want."

Also, last year I was given a raise and assumed responsibilities of a "department head" (going to dept head meetings etc etc) but bc I have no real title it wasn't an official promotion. So, I threw the word "senior" in front of my title on my resume after the date I assumed these responsibilities to reflect that.

Because of these facts, when applying to this company, I had a couple different resumes with different variations of my current title. I did not lie about any of my actual duties or experience - I just have different resumes with different titles since I was told a resume is essentially a marketing document.

I've heard horror stories of offers being rescinded due to employment verification... In this situation, should I be worried?

The more you call them the more red flags you raise.

Seems like you have nothing to worry about. If you want to, email the CEO and copy whomever you listed as your direct manager on the employment firms, just verifying your title on the resume given the conversation you had with him.

You will be fine but in the future try and get these types of title changes in writing.
