Fall IBD Recruiting for a 22yo out of school help - Best way to ensure superday interviews?

I need all the help I can get. As a candidate I am fine (Target school, high gpa, good credentials), I just am interested in waht the best way is to get noticed. What is the best way to ensure that I get a few superday interviews this fall for the class of 2012?

For some background, I was premed in college but made the decision to switch career paths after I graduated. I've been trying to get in for 6 months but it's been incredibly difficult. All the interviews I've had have been really positive, but the timing isn't there. I want to participate in 2012 recruiting so that I can get a shot at doing something I really want to do.

Firms laying off left and right, recession looming, really tough out there if you dont have a job already. Youre right about timing not being there, again, despite the 08 09 period which was brutal as well. The only real period since then to find a decent gig (talking for juniors here) was fall2010 for 2011 positions.

Stay up to date with whats going on in EU, debt ceiling issues in the States, know how to carry on a convo about those things. If your CV has nothing on it yet which is finance related, id seriously consider looking for an internship first. Target, high gpa, credentials (what?) dont mean shit at this point in the game, maybe enough to get a phone interview with a dozen guys similar like you but who already have experience.

I realize this is pretty bearish but im just taking whats been going on the past few weeks in the markets and how overall the traders are talking about the economy which shapes my views.
