Fidelity Investment Research Interview

Have an upcoming c/o ‘25, Summer ‘23 intro interview for Fidelity’s Investment Research. On a basic Google search, I couldn’t find much regarding the division nor Investment Research as a whole. Anyone have any insight into this program, ways to prep (both broadly for investment research and this specific program), the types of “investments” (i.e., equity/debt/futures/commodities) that I’d be researching? I expect it’ll be a light, first round, behavioral interview, but im overall seeking to gain a better understanding of what the job entails to better craft my narrative if/when they ask “why IR/Fidelity”. Lastly, but least important, I assume this would be a great sophomore summer internship to throw on my resume pre-IB recruiting - can anyone confirm?

OP which location are you interviewing for? And did you network? Applied a few weeks ago

Boston. Believe that was the only location. Also applied for Direct Lending (CHI, IL) and ESG Investment Research (Boston & rejected). Wbu?

I’m at fidelity rn and the recruiter said there are under 10 positions available for the IR positions. She said to emphasize work experience (Fidelity is cutting out schools for those at non target).

This is how most sophomore internships go. Recruiters do care that, come spring recruitment, you have something to discuss on your resume that’s relevant to finance. Especially if it’s a competitive position. Why do you think sophomore SA’s at BB’s are highly coveted and competitive? Because recruiters like to see that you have finance related internship for sophomore summer.

Went decent. Felt like I connected well with recruiter and showed my personality. Definitely could’ve prepared better on some inevitable questions that I got too lazy to research (I.r., why Fidelity). Recruiter said I won’t hear back on super day invite until early August.
