Fired From Internship - Do I Still Leave It on My Resume?

Pretty unfortunate situation as the title would suggest. I spent this past summer working as an unpaid intern at a private equity company. Always came in on time, completed deliverables promptly, and got along well with the other interns and people in the office. Made a few mistakes in my work and committed a faux-pas, but I was always very earnest in apologizing and made sure never to repeat my mistakes. Three weeks before my internship was supposed to end (and about two weeks after the aforementioned faux-pas, my analyst asks me to join a call and tells me that I've been fired for incorrectly completing a training assessment that I completed before the internship even started. Anyways, still very dumbfounded about why I was fired in the first place, but I am currently debating whether to leave the experience on my resume. I still have other internship experiences that I could point to, but I don't think I would be able to cover a full page resume. I heard that larger IB firms will outsource background checks and that I'll be fine as long as I worked at the company, but obviously still worried. I'm currently a Sophomore recruiting for 2025. Should I try to find a Sophomore fall internship? Is it too late at this point to do so? Any advice would be much appreciated

What do you mean by "incorrectly completing a training assessment"? Did you violate the firm's policy in any way?
