weird follow up email situation...

im in a weird situation: talked to a recruiter and she told me to reach out to 2 people, an associate in charge of 2026 recruitment and an analyst. i emailed them and got no joy from the associate, but heard back randomly after 3 weeks from the analyst. in the waiting time, i had also followed up with the associate and still no joy. set up a call with the analyst and it went swimmingly and he gave me so much advice and also interview prepped me then and there, and recommended me BACK to the associate.

idk why i didnt just tell him outright that i'd already reached out to the associate 2x with no response, i just felt bad that i was gonna shit on his advice or smth.

this associate is in charge of the 2026 recruitment and i really want this internship. what should i do? email/follow up AGAIN? should i start a new email thread and pretend like i didnt email 2x before hand? whats my MO here? ig if the associate doesnt respond, ill reach out to the analyst again and politely ask him to prompt his boss in my favor???

thanks everyone!

I would just send a thank you email to the analyst and mention in it "didn't realize ive reached out to the associate a couple times already" and dont want to bother him or whatever not too deep just go through the analyst

okay great thank you! I already sent the standard thankyou email to the analyst, but ill follow up in a couple of days??? and tell him exactly that, i think its a safer bet to go through him after I made a good impression (i think) anyway and hope he mentions me positively. thanks!!
