Freshman internship at EY. Recruiting

Hello all! I was interested in a Freshman internship, and a former EY Partner recommended me to a recruiter. I reached out to the latter and expressed my interest. He asked for a resume. I sent it, and then he asked questions about "Why EY," etc. So, I told my story. Yet, after that, I have not gotten any response after more than a week. My college career counselor says I need to apply via the portal as everyone does, and this is when things will start moving. Yet, I have heard that you can get an interview via a recruiter, even without applying via a career site. What would you suggest?

P.S.: I would apply via the website, but since I don't have any college transcripts yet, I can't submit the application without them.
