Getting Headhunters to talk to you
Almost at the 1 year mark at my current job (East Coast AM) and want to make the jump into HF/PE but have found there to be an extreme lack of any public openings, at least for my preferred location. Everything is highly concentrated within headhunters but the minute they see that I’m not sell side I get ignored. I have a great deal of modeling and research experience in college and from on the job, and have a portfolio of my work.
I’ve done some cold outreach but have usually been told to come back when I have “more experience” - problem is that I’m not getting that experience in my current role. How can I get past this roadblock?
