It’s common for interns not to get exposure to financial modeling. Typically interns only work on slides and spread comps. Personally, I barely looked at models and still got the return offer and good reviews. Thr closest I got to models during my internship was helping making a mock pro-forma for a comp table (two of the comps were merging and we had to adjust financial metrics to reflect the merger). Even this mock pro forma was eventually done fully by an analyst. So don’t worry too much about not working on models just keep being eager to do all the tasks they give you and you might get some modeling work if the analysts want to spend time showing it to you.

Next time you have the opportunity and you see an analyst work on a model, kindly ask them if you can shadow and ask them questions on their model. They might say no if they’re in a time crunch, so don’t expect anything out of it but it’s generally the best modeling exposure you’ll get as an intern.

If you’re saying the internship does not lead to return offer, you should obviously look at FT opportunities. Take the extra time you have to network and learn financial modeling on your own. I remember most of the interns at my BB group were doing mock models on the side when they had downtime.

“Internship does not pipeline to FT offers”

Fuck modeling experience, worry about finding a full time role. Good luck
