Go for finance or just buy a laundry business or some shit

Hi people,

First post here. Early apologies if this is a bit long. Just have a lot to let out.

I fucked up my chances at some good MSc in finance, and now really don't know what to do.

Im a young guy graduating with BSc business and economics this summer from good nordic school (BI, NHH, CBS). I have always wanted to be very successful, earn a lot of money and have my own business.

At the start of my BSc I thought I could just get good grades without studying like I did in high school. That did obviously not happen. Reality hit me and I was suddenly not that smart or talented as I thought I was.

Eventually I got my shit together. About to graduate with 4/5 GPA (not super impressive but considering my grades from first year were very shit), and had a relevant job in risk mgmt at a very big company. I also jumped to a new job at a tech startup (current position) where I work directly with management (Finance and biz dev.)

My plan was to do a MSc in finance, get a finance job at a top firm, go to the buyside, learn learn learn, and then eventually just go by my own -->buy and scale companies.

Now I fucked up and won't get in to SSE nor Bocconi for the MSc finance program. My only options now really are nordic schools (BI, NHH, CBS).

My goal is to become really rich. I don't care if im poor all of my 20s. I just want to have my own business and do very well. Don't care about prestige but some big names in the CV definitely make the way easier.

What should I do? Do a MSc in nordics (where?) and really focus on grades and get top of my class, then try to break in to finance, or forget MSc and just try to earn money and start buying like carwashes from old people?

I think a role in a top bank will be insanely valuable to then learn even more in PE or VC, but then again, you can also get pretty good at business by actually owning one and grinding like hell.

Relevant info

  • I haven't had any internships in finance. I had a 50% role in risk mgmt from a well known company besides studies. I jumped to the startup job and have learned a lot + gotten a lot of responsibility. But I do realise that this might have hurt my chances of getting a more relevant finance role.
  • I technically can apply to MSc finance in Bocconi, but it would be for selection round 3 out of 5. (a very dumb mistake I did got me here...) is it even possible to get in with 4/5 gpa??
  • I can work in Nordics, Europe general, US, don't really care. (I speak English, Spanish, French and nordic language)

Thank you so for reading this. I appreciate any type of comment or advice.
