GPA Importance For Recruiting?

I am currently a Junior and just finished my first semester at a semi-target, which I transferred to. I have already accepted a SA position for this summer, but think I will likely re-recruit for full time next fall just to test the waters. My GPA was just below a 3.8 at my last school, but this new school is much harder, and I finished with slightly above a 3.5 this past semester (mainly because I bombed one class). I was just wondering how concerned I should be about this? I am an econ major and not in the B school (though Econ is much harder here), and am under the impression that getting above a 3.7 will be extremely difficult. Will firms care about my GPA drop-off next fall? Or am I at a point in my "career" where it will not matter as much since I have a fair amount of internship experience? Not looking to go into banking, more interested in investment management/public markets, and was curious to see if this was really only a dealbreaker in IB.
