Grabbing Coffee with Industry Professionals

when you guys are typically doing info interviews face to face, and grabbing a coffee with the other person. Do they typically pay for your drinks?

Reason I"m asking is the answer is typically yes, they do, but I feel bad that they're paying for my coffee and such, and I want to offer to treat them for taking the time out and such. Is it disrespectful and say "No.. i'll pay for it" and keep insisting or should I just let it slide in our North American culture that its alright for the people higher up to pay for the junior ppl's drinks/buy them food, etc.

Want to see how you guys experience/deal with this issue.

Its a-lot about ego and not rubbing people the wrong way....if a senior offers to pay for it..why stop him what is the point of saying ill pay for it? It wont impress him because he has money it isn't like taking a girl out..

But what do I know...

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

Since I'm a college student without a salary, and they're senior bankers (or associate or analyst) with a job, I think it's just courtesy for them to treat you to a coffee. They've always paid for my coffee; I've never paid for it myself.

I mean, if I was in their position I'd do the same as well.

Just send them the obligatory thank you email afterwards to thank them for their time, advice, etc.

No big deal.
