Graduate Full Time Analyst Programs Question
Hi all,
I graduated last year with a master's degree. I am in my early 30's, I've been in the financial services industry for 12 years, mostly in operations and compliance. I went with a master's program that could help me pivot to a different line of business. On paper, someone might say I'm overqualified based on my time in the industry although I have zero experience in the line of business I would apply for. I am not looking to go in to IB or anything but something like Risk or Corporate Treasury.
For context the Goldman Sach programs have you actually select Analyst or Associate and then they tell you what length of work experience typically applies for the programs. Many other programs also say that their programs are for people with 3-5 years' experience or something similar.
Would it be disadvantageous to select Analyst to try and get to a LOB that I want to be in? Like if I include my resume with my full work experience, would it be trashed because of how much experience I have? Is it possible that length of experience would help me? I say that as well because again with the GS programs, many associate programs are in Private Wealth Management and not a LOB that I would like to be in.
If anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it or if I'm totally screwed, I guess finding out here would be better than somewhere else.
Thank you
