Hedge fund job for uncommun profile

Hi.

To what extent a hedge fund would consider an “outsider” — with no economic background — for various tasks like geopolitical research, market and social trends and more administrative tasks ?

I’m a PhD in geography / urban studies (with 4 books) trying to figure out the employment possibilities in the world of hedge funds / family offices.

In other words: I’m a PhD looking for a radical career change.

I have done different projects, from a market study for a overnight train to the preparation of a derogation request for a major real estate project in NYC.

Thanks.
