Help figuring out finance path

I am a recent graduate that studied economics with an emphasis in accounting. Later after taking courses in accounting, I realized it wasn’t what I wanted to do long term and when I took a finance course in the last year, it sparked an interest for me to explore the field more, but I didn’t have any internship in finance, I did do in marketing. I am currently trying to consider what options I should consider to figure out specifically which area of finance to go into.

Some options that I came across include: 1) Unpaid internship at a private equity firm: I’m not sure whether I can apply for after graduation, since I won’t be getting academic credit for 2) Financial advisor assistant / administrative assistant at a financial services firm 3) Client associate advisor 4) Other

What kind of positions should I be looking for to gain the exposure to figure out a path and experience to be a competitive candidate? Any suggestions or advice on how to approach this situation, and considering I don’t have much experience with the field, how to best prepare myself for the above options, would be appreciated!
