Highest Paying Jobs and Industries in Scottsdale AZ

I am not sure where this post fits in, but I think the Job Search forum is best.

I have been an entrepreneur for 6 or 7 years now. I start e-commerce businesses and use the funds to invest in real estate. Single family and then once I became accredited I began diversifying with small chunks of syndications scattered across different asset classes and geographic regions.

I have a low multiple seven figure net worth, so my assets should (SHOULD is the operative word here) generate a decent income without working, but really not enough for me to feel comfortable doing nothing for the rest of my life. That number is probably 10 million, but even then I would do things that interest me and don’t impose too badly on my lifestyle.

The wife and I are moving to Scottsdale AZ. We love it there, we love the scenery and the weather and the hiking and about a thousand other things.

I am in a very volatile business. Shit hits the fan regularly, and the financial risks I’m sometimes forced to take are crazy. I have a side project to start in a lower risk/volatility segment of the market, and hopefully that works out. But if the sky fell down, I guess I would have to look for a job. We are going to have kids and I would feel like a POS not working and just betting that my assets will support us.

Only thing is, most jobs are 50k. If you’re a manager or in some very in demand field or work so much you never see your family, maybe 100k. It seems like 150k+ jobs (not talking about NYC, SF and other insane COL cities) are reserved for a small percentage of very old people who’ve stayed in the industry for 30 years. Or doctors, who start work at roughly my current age. This is pretty depresssing. It seems like the only way to generate the kind of money I get from my own business is to start another business or possibly get a slice of equity from a startup with a good shot at an exit.

I would want a job where I can crush it and accumulate the last couple million before I hit my magic number at that point. I suppose I could always drive Uber and use that to live on and let my investments grow undisturbed and wake up rich in 30 years, but I like being a boss and not being some sort of service employee.

It seems like the industries that pay are:

Oil and gas Real estate (development, REPE, commercial) Private equity Hedge funds Investment banking Medicine (this is out for me) Law (also out i think, too much school and $) Tech (go do something for another e-commerce company in an executive role) Investment management (vanguard is in Scottsdale) Merchant processing (I have some friends in high risk merchant processing who seem to do very well) VP/SVP/C suite at a decent sized corporation

I’m sure I’m forgetting some and that’s why I made this thread.

I have a master’s in finance (never used it, money was too good on the Internet), own my own real estate, have some tech experience in that I run e-commerce companies, and worked in the oil field for maybe one year before the market crashed.

I have zero idea what sort of jobs are available in Scottsdale AZ. It is never mentioned on this forum, ever.

I am probably unsuited for some sort of sales job. I dislike the lifestyle of constant air travel, staying in hotels all the time, entertaining clients with dinners / strip clubs etc. I really value my health and constant heavy boozy dinners are not good for it. I guess if there was a sales gig that didn’t involve they, maybe...but probably not. I would rather build a skill.

Anyone have any ideas? It would be more comfortable going into this move knowing I have a backup plan if the internet business goes kaput.
