how helpful is a c-suite connection for a job application

Hey everyone,

Currently in my final year of undergraduate studies in Europe and I'm about to start applying for some internships wherever I can.
However, a good friend of my family is a c-suite manager in a BB and I got to meet with him recently and he essentially told me to send over my CV & preferences. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on what are the chances that he can actually help me out in finding something or at least get some interviews within the firm as I've read references in europe aren't as much of a thing as in america.
Mostly because I have limited time availability in the coming month due to exams, and therefore wondering whether it's worth putting in many hours applying everywhere I can, or just focus to prep as much as I can for this one BB if I have a high enough chances of getting an interview.

Cheers guys

I will say 2 things:

1) rarely can anyone get you a job, but many people can get you an interview. A C level person can definitely get you an interview, but after that it’s usually on you unless they really pull some strings

2) your comment about limited time with exams is one I hear frequently from students, and I’m going to be direct, it’s crap. IB is a very demanding job, college by comparison is easy. You need to be able to study for exams, apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews. I don’t think you can bank on one or the other.
