How plausible is it to break into investment banking from Stirling/Heriot Watt?

I have been offered places to study at Stirling and Heriot Watt Universities this year. I am 16 and these have the most likely entry requirements I can achieve. I am aspiring to work towards becoming an investment analyst and I want to know how likely it is to be able to break in from these unis. I am willing to move anywhere for a job after university and I am planning to make use of societies and networking events to increase my chance of gaining a job. I have been networking on LinkedIn to try and get advice on the best path for me. I will work anywhere as long as I can get my foot in the door. The degree I have applied for is Finance and Economics at both. Bumps are appreciated.

I would be able to have the funding there for LSE, LBS, or Oxford. Would the extra degree be worth the money for chances at a job or is it still not really plausible for a position?

Hard to say without really knowing the whole story but in general I think those 3 Master’s programmes seem worth it. Know several people across all 3 and most get a decent shot at recruiting.

Would do your best to recruit out of undergrad to avoid the extra fees but they are a viable option. Note you’ll require a solid GMAT score for LBS and Oxford (and I think for LSE too if you don’t get a First, not 100% sure anymore).

In any case you can decide on Master’s later. The path will be pretty similar, you’ll need some form of internship (not necessarily a top tier) to be competitive for LBS / LSE / Oxford anyway. So just focus on getting the First and trying your hardest for Spring Weeks whilst having fun at uni. Can then apply for Master’s in final year if outlook is a bit bleak.
