How to broach the topic of return offers for next summer?

Current rising junior interning at a MM bank in research. My internship is nearing its end soon and I'm wondering how I would go about broaching the topic of getting a return offer to intern at the bank next summer. My bank hasn't mentioned anything on the subject yet - I had a nontraditional path to my current position and I haven't been interning here for too long but I think they like me. Should I straight up ask about junior summer internships or just apply when junior summer internships open up? Thanks in advance.
