How to move from back office into sales?

I am currently at jp morgan chase doing compliance and i really want a role that i get comission or pnl, for example selling fintech software. I can not work a job with a set salary.

Does anyone have any advice or roles that i can look at moving to?

Best thing about sales is it’s not that hard to get in really…just takes networking. I’d just cold email people from alumni network and places you are interested working at. JP Morgan is growing their private bank and you could do the wealth management branch path which can be lucrative. You could go into wholesaling for mutual funds, business development for asset management firms. Fintech software could be a good path too, you’d probably start at the bottom and work your way up but a career is a marathon not a sprint.

Baird institutional sales could be nice, it depends what kind of institutional sales. Presumptively it’s selling Bairds wealth management services to 401k, pensions etc…or it’s some sort of sales and trading gig. A law degree could be useful for wealth management where you are doing financial planning and also trying to build a book, talking with clients etc. I don’t think you need designations right now, you just need to speak with as many people as possible to get a feel for what you want to do. Also, thanks on the geopolitics stuff, I’ll check it out. Best of luck.
