How was your internship experience at each bank?

As most summer analysts wrap up internships I wanted to make a thread to get an idea of how everyone’s experience was at their banks. Our experience as interns can be strong indicators of what culture is like at different banks and this can hopefully also be a resource for people interested in recruiting. Here’s some potential questions:

- Name of bank, group type (product/coverage)

- How was your training? Did you receive group-specific training?

- What was the culture like at your group? What was the culture like at other groups, or the bank as a whole?

- Do you feel as though your internship provided a good representation of the work you will be doing as an analyst?

- What is your general impression of the other interns hired by your bank?

- How busy were you? Average hours worked per week?

- What perks did you get as an intern?

- Would you consider recruiting FT at a different group or bank? Which ones?
- Are you expecting to receive a return offer? If so, why are/aren’t you deciding to return full time?

- Rate overall experience: A/B/C etc

I’ll go first with my experience interning at Barclays:

Training: got training by Wall Street prep, also received group specific training

Culture: people were extremely helpful and welcoming, enjoyed working with coworkers at all levels

Work: got staffed on a live deal + plenty of pitches and although the work was boring, it never felt pointless

WLB: Ranged from 60-80hrs

Perks: protected saturdays + $30 meal and Ubers after 8. Three mandatory days in office a week

Expecting to receive an offer and will likely accept. Am happy with my group and will not re-recruit, I learned a lot and just really the analysts and associates. Plus my group seems to be doing well and getting M&A exposure from coverage is great. Overall: A
