I (Intern) Hates Taste of Beer. How do I get the Offer?

I hate beer. It's bitter and burns my throat. Heard from a couple of people that interns will go to bars with analysts/associates and make everyone drink 3-5 bottles. Interns who refuse to drink, only drink 1-2 bottles, or get wasted, are looked down upon and don't get an offer. That's kinda messed up honestly, but I will drink and suck it up if it means I will get an offer. But at the same time, I'm wondering how you were able to avoid such situations and still get an offer. Thoughts?

Where are you interning, Wolf of Wall Street?

This is not true and you can happily get mixed drinks or water or soda if you want. Yeah there is some happy hour schmoozing but they are not hazing fraternity style... come on now. Don't forget many interns aren't even 21, and while they use fake IDs with their friends they usually don't with FTs from work

I think the closest you will come to this situation is if your intern class decides to go to a brewery for fun on a weekend.

That's kinda how service industries work

If a client serves up a pile of shit you better eat that shit up or else they'll take the $10mm fee they would've paid your team and give it to your rivals

also on a more serious note. I don't think they care whether you drink or not. It's more about being interesting and making sure you're not a complete workaholic. The best way to ensure this is by telling NSFW stories from University. Nothing too racy/cancelable but just edgy & genuine enough to keep them interested. Most of these guys would die to be back in university and have some real fun.
