I think I F'ed Up
I worked at a sell side M&A boutique bank as an analyst making decent comp considering the area. I quit after about 2 years because it was extremely sweaty and I just wanted more out of life.
I began working as a financial advisor and have made almost no money. I failed to realize this is essentially a sales role with comp almost completely dependent on commissions and I suck at prospecting. I find myself missing the analytical side of things as well as the fast-paced culture of IB.
Am I fucked? If I try to recruit for IB I'll land AN2 at best and I'm not sure I'm really willing to go that route. I'm in a Tier 3 city so it's not like high finance roles are everywhere especially in this job market. Has anyone gone through something similar or perhaps can offer some advice?
How do you feel about getting an MBA and recruiting for IB Aso positions?
Going that long without stable income isn't totally viable at the moment. Plus I'm not thrilled by the idea of taking on student debt.
Completely understand, it's a tough route financially. I ended up doing a part time MBA in order to keep my income. Recruited for a tier 2 city and got into an EB
Just curious - if you worked as an analyst, why did you select "Associate" on your profile?
Idk why it says Associate I've tried to fix it and it won't update. I've never been an Associate.
