IB Recruitment timeline (SA) Is it too early?

Is it too early to start cold-calling/emailing firms about internship positions? I plan to start cold emailing/calling firms about 2025 summer internships now but I'm not sure if it is too early to do so, considering this is a year and a half in advance but considering I'm at a non-target I feel that I should start earlier. Any advice helps.

Yeah just start now. I'm recruiting for SA 25 too and I had this same question and looked through posts here noticing that most say to start in January, so just start now unless you have a good reason to put it off until January (studying for finals, christmas plans, etc.)

From what I’ve been told, IB recruitment schedules for 2025 have been pushed up to around mid January for this upcoming cycle. At our school, we’ve been told to start networking as of three weeks ago.

I can only really speak for the banks and companies I’ve toured and talked to, but every single one I talked to, both lending arm and independent advisory, have had their schedules pushed up. There was a boutique that I talked to that had maybe ~8-10 bankers total who pushed their schedules up. Nobody wants to lose the talent race, so all of the hiring leads I spoke with have basically said “the second one of us acts, we all will.”

You should've been networking as soon as you entered freshman year, ideally when recruiting rolls around (right now) you'll have months if not a year+ worth of relationships with the majority of your network and you can easily ask for referrals/resume pushes

I wish I knew I wanted to IB my first semester. I’m a second semester freshman right now so I feel that I’m a little behind but not too far behind to the point where I screwed myself over.
